Hours of practising, recording tracks and learning Latin lines all culminated in one wonderful week of rehearsals and performance when Mill End Voices took to the stage as part of Fourways Theatre Company’s production of King Charles III. It was our first time performing in such a production and we were honoured to have been invited to sing live on stage in the climax of the show.
Our very own MD, Patrick Gazard, wrote the incidental music for the play, as well as two sung pieces. Patrick, who had the pleasure of being a part of the audience, says:
“As an audience member it was fantastic to see and hear our MEV singers on stage involved in a local amateur theatre production, and I very much hope it is just the start of a lengthy creative collaboration between the two groups.”
It was an equally fantastic experience for our choir members who were proud to perform in the Lancaster Theatre at the beautiful Wycombe Abbey School. Over three nights, we took to the stage in the climactic moments of the play; the new king’s coronation, and delivered a powerful rendition of Anthem for the Coronation.
The choir was superb and made a huge difference.
Fourways’ Production Team
We certainly had a lot of fun performing in the play; experiencing the smell of the greasepaint, meeting and working with the fabulous cast and production team of Fourways, and being dazzled by the bright stage lights as we sung in a faux Westminster Abbey.
We look forward to working with Fourways again in the future and would like to extend our gratitude to the entire cast and crew for inviting our choir to perform with them.
What’s next in store for Mill End Voices? After a year of fantastic performances, we are all excited to see what 2019 is going to bring. Watch this space.....
